Semarang, Indonesia — From April to May 2026, Diponegoro University’s (UNDIP) Master of Mathematics program hosted a series of international lectures for the Research 1 course, transforming theoretical study into practical, global-standard research competencies. The UNDIP Global Classroom (UGC) initiative brought together experts from Turkey and Malaysia to share cutting-edge methodologies in statistics, finance, and optimization.
The series launched on April 9 with Prof. Anton Abdulbasah Kamil (Istanbul Gelisim University), who detailed the Hybrid Bootstrap G-causality method to evaluate tourism’s economic impact in Malaysia. Prof. Kamil returned on April 20 to present a breakthrough in financial forecasting: a hybrid ARIMA-LSTM model. This approach integrates traditional linear patterns with deep learning’s nonlinear capabilities to achieve superior accuracy in gold price predictions.

On April 23 and May 1, Prof. Dr. Jumat Bin Sulaiman (Universiti Malaysia Sabah) shifted the focus to computational efficiency. He introduced the Half-Sweep Multigrid (HSMG) method for solving complex partial differential equations and demonstrated how these theoretical linear solvers are applied to real-world engineering and scientific modeling.

The series concluded on May 7 and May 21 with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yosza Dasril, who addressed optimization theory. His session emphasized utilizing analytical curvature — such as Newton’s Method — to accelerate search convergence in both constrained and unconstrained optimization problems.
Throughout the program, postgraduate students engaged in high-level discourse on algorithm implementation and research reliability. By bridging the gap between theory and global practice, UNDIP continues to solidify its commitment to international academic collaboration and the advancement of applied mathematics and data science.
